At least the female characters were believable; not Mary Sues, as in #5
Sure, the wife kills two henchmen at the end, but it does seem that she only got lucky, so I'll give that a pass.
OTOH, while the two female secret agents were competent, the film doen't have any ridiculous scenes of them taking out trained bad guys in hand-to-hand combat -- which is what makes the fifth film in this franchise such a laughingstock, with the female agent who somehow jumps up on people's heads (without them moving), like she's on wires. Which she is.
#3 is not a great film, but at least it avoids that laughable Mary Sue implausibility of #5. And I found myself quite invested in the wife's fate. I really thought that she was going to die, so the fact that Cruise rescued her was a genuine and pleasant surprise.
