Bad or Good?

Is it any good?

It is fantastic, and perfectly cast...Rupert Everett shines as the caddish Valmont, and the enchanting Leelee Sobieski is a perfect choice to play the ingenue. And it looks great, set in the sixties, and looking like it was filmed in the sixties style also.

Thanks that motivated ne to rent it...I hope I like it as well.

It depends upon which version you watch. The mini series aired on Women's Entertainment was dreadful with its English dubbing and truncated story - that almost amounted to a poorly done soap opera. That particular version goes for about 167 minutes versus the stellar 3 dvd set in French with English subtitles and 252 minutes. It is hard to believe that dubbing a movie in English could make it appear so substandard when compared to the French language 3 dvd set. As to the supposed other two 200 minute dvd versions, I don't know and have no intention of watching either of them (one dubbed, the other with English subtitles). The look and the feel of the mini series in the 3 dvd set was entirely destroyed by the WE version. It would be charitable to call it a badly made tv movie.
