It wasn't that bad, not that low budget either. Who liked it?

This film was okay. I noticed some people seem to hate it, I would not be one of them. I just think that most of us that are older, and who grew up watching films like Dawn/Day of the Dead, Zombie & Return of the Living Dead, are just 'jaded', I guess. I mean, we've seen it all, there really isn't much more a director can do to Shock us anymore, is there?

I think that this film was aimed towards a younger generation, gamers & ravers, if you will, since it does take place during an island 'rave' party and I think it's based on a video game (like I should know this!).

There are no spoilers here, I'm just not sure if I'm giving much away, because of course, Zombies emerge from the jungle and start attacking the horny teenagers, per usual!! I don't think that's a 'spoiler', I think that is only 'Logical' in the sense that horror movies always seem to follow this path!!

The gore is awesome though! I mean, they spent a LOT of money on the special effects! It may even rival 'Dead/Alive' in terms of body count and creative kills, yet it still remains....a 5 out of 10 star movie! It doesn't suck, but it doesn't blow you away either. I found it for $2.99, so do I really have any reason to be angry about that? It's worth seeing once...in fact, I can even see it being a 'classic' on someone else's list of favorites. Probably someone under 30, for sure, but hey, we all have to get into Horror films some time, right?

5 out of 10 *'s = Average Zombie fare

It is great stuff! I watched it last night again and it is a blast. It is fast-moving, action-packed and well-gory. Best of all, it is NEVER boring (unlike Diary of the Dead). It sure is not art and it will not rival Citizen Kane any time soon, but as a slick zombie-blasting, logic-free flick, it is not half bad and does not deserve the reputation that it has. Plus, when was the last time you saw a 100 metres freestyle swimming race involving zombies? I'd certainly buy that for a dollar.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. A hat made of jelly, green jelly.

I agree, for a buck or $3, it's worth a watch. I just got to thinking how 'we' all got so jaded in what we like and what we don't like and what it takes to shock/scare us, to like a film, and what qualifies as a 'cult classic' in our mind. Certainly, seeing hundreds, if not thousands of films, over 25 years, can affect the way one sees/appreciates a film, so you can see how we can differ in our opinions on various movies.

It was cheesy and corny. and I enjoyed it for what it's worth. jeez. not every zombie movie is meant to terrify you. I knew the movie would be corny when I rented it. at least it's entertaining in a Popcorn flick way.

Good point , I Madman. The movie is probably better suited for a younger generation who hasn't been exposed to George Romero' franchise and all the Italian rip-offs and so have no basis of comparison to taint their enjoyment of this movie.

I generally like Uwe Boll's movies and am not on the same page as the trolls who seem to find it trendy to bash Mr. Boll's movies. But in this one, I think he really missed the boat. Not a very good movie.

I love how there's always somebody out there ready to give any movie with a couple recognizable actors and half a stylish Hollywood look a chance and say "IT WASN'T THAT BAD!!" These threads are as numerous and almost as brain-dead as BEST/WORST MOVIE EVER!!

I tried to watch this piece of trash. Me and my girlfriend's younger brother were watching hoping to get a peek at some T&A at the very least and maybe a few cool scenes knowing that this got horrible reviews and not least of all because it was a Uwe Boll production. I made it through 9 minutes before I had to jump ahead to where the action was. It just got worse, the more I fast forwarded. Trust me, all the reviews were right (for once). "IT REALLY IS THAT BAD". This is terrible to the 10x.

And then you've also got people defending the movie for preying/taking advantage of a certain demographic who haven't had the exposure to movies that are actually of decent quality.

"This movie is generally crap, but all the suckers out there who haven't seen decent films on the same subject matter may like it so I respect the film for that."

I started this thread over 3 years ago but it's nice to see it created some passionate replies! I have House of the Dead II but have not opened it yet!
Do u know anything about that one?

Having seen a LOT of bad movies, the kind that even MST3k wouldn't dare touch, I can honestly say this is NOT one of them. Those who doubt me should try watching the utterly abysmal Oasis Of The Zombies, or at least read the reviews.

I had the 'pleasure' to watch this flick last night.

I can relate with you I_Madman, to some extent. I, too grew up watching Romero´s 80´s movies, (and the other Living Dead series you refer to) etc and will always be thinking of Romero´s zombie movies as THE zombie movies. And that already shows that I may not be 100% objective here...But here it goes;

You´re entitled to like this movie as much as you want (what a cliche thing to say, I know. Especially here). But what struck me in your original post was, when you said; "It may even rival Dead/Alive..." Respectfully I have to say I find that ludicrous. For the body count and imaginative deaths, it´s nowhere close. Maybe I missed a few 'imaginative' deaths as I did lose couple of times (for some seconds) my concentration when my cat started to cough fur-balls. And as a longtime horror movie fan, and I understand you are also, I totally agree that there isn´t much more anything to shock us, the older viewers.

You think it´s not that bad nor that low budget, and that´s cool. I´m just wondering where the h3ll did the 7 mil budget go? Royalties for the game makers I presume....?! As I just can not see the SFX taking much of that cash. But I´m no movie producer.

I love campy horror. I love movies which are unintentionally bad/funny. There was a point I was telling myself, "Naah, Boll has made this just to f#ck around, as a joke. NO WAY he´s being even a little serious with this". But as more minutes rolled by, I had to accept that this was just utterly, completely, unimaginative poor movie making. What else can it be? If it was meant to shine through some tongue-in-cheek feeling, it completely failed in that one as well.

Like so many here, I have to agree with them that this movie is a disgrace for the zombie genre. Ok, ok, I gotta cut Uwe Boll some slack as HOTD is not the only rotten apple out there. But man oh man how this sucked!

PS. HOTD was my first Uwe Boll movie. I´ve been reading about Uwe Boll movies for quite some time, and just thought of finally watching at least one of his works. I wanted to make my own judgement about at least one of his movies. I seriously doubt I will watch another Uwe Boll movie. Well, maybe if someone pays me to ;) No pun intended.

It's watchable. Jurgen Prochnow is the highlight, he certainly has the best role in the film, and has the perfect acting chops to pull it off.

I love to love my Lisa.

The movie was ok until they incorporated those videogame shots that totally screw the movie.

I thought the action was pretty cool, the music good and hot girls(Including a topless Lois Lane)
