So, I guess some animals were harmed?

In the end credits, I noticed the obligatory notice: "American Humane Association monitored the animal action."
Yet, this was not followed by the typical "No animals were harmed™"

Does this mean what I think it means?

"The entire production of Hidalgo was an elaborate ploy to get the elderly Milos and Otises there together on that last day of shooting, so they could be killed like all the others."

..... what???

Hmm...maybe they've added the "No animals were harmed in the making of this film" line since then, to assure people that the AHA monitoring was effective? I too would have expected to see it, as I highly doubt that any horses or other animals were deliberately harmed or allowed to do anything unsafe for this movie...perhaps if there is an accidental injury or death they can't state that none were harmed, despite the oversight. Possibly that was the case; I don't know. =[

I'm sure a bug or two was killed.

I think the horses were put through their paces but not deliberately harmed.

Its that man again!!

Somehow I can't see animal lover Viggo, promoting a film in which animals weren't treated well and humanely.🐭

Big News Flash: That notice means NOTHING. Google around and read firsthand accounts on those on the sets of these movies. The abuse that animals suffer is HORRENDOUS, even in 2016.

Case in point: The Man from Snowy River. Check it out.

The only animals harmed were the ones that are neatly packaged in yours and mine refrigerators... Whether you purchased yours at Vons or at a private butcher shop like Marconda's they all originated from the same type slaughter houses. If you saw what goes on in there, you might or might not become a vegetarian but for sure you would never inquire on to weather any animals were harmed on set because it would be the epitome of hypocrisy!
