Why were they trying to eliminate all the mustangs?

Was it for the purpose of eliminating non-purebreds or something like that?

The Army was going to kill all the wild mustangs so the natives couldn't have them.

Hopkins uses his winnings to buy the herd of mustangs about to be killed in what was an attempt by the US government to eliminate mustangs and force Native Americans to convert to farming. The god complex was on show.🐭

This is just depressing on all fronts :(

Agreed. I'm close to horses my entire life and it's sad someone would treat them so badly. They are such kind beings and powerful at the same time. People have no idea what they are destroying here. But this is the human race in a nut shell. Acting brainless as usual.

It truly is unbelievable and sickening how thoughtless and cruel people can be sometimes.

It wasn't actual news to me, sad nevertheless.
In my eyes we all can do something, stop eating that much meat. This would help a lot. I'm not saying stop eating meat entirely, just not so much.

I guess you could call me a flexitarian. It's just a few days since I learnt there's actually a name for it...

Decreasing overall meat consumption (chicken, beef, bison, etc.) will do nothing to help the wild mustangs. Are you referring to those who eat horse meat, either knowingly or unknowingly?

reply

The post I was replying to has been removed unfortunately but I think it was about the need of greenland for raising cattle.

They are to this day, trying to eliminate the wild mustangs. They are claiming different things like they are ruining the land. They also claim they are "in the way" of the oil and gas drillers. These beautiful horses are often rounded up and put in pens with no food or water.. They are also eliminated by being shot. These gorgeous animals are part of our american history. It is a travesty ti kill them off. There are however a small amount being adopted via Bureau of Land Management. I know someone who had adopted one and he was a beautiful, gentle, wonderful animal. His name was Leif. I was lucky enough to know the people that adopted him and they loaned him to me for the day. These animals need to be saved. Once they are gone, they are gone forever and our history goes with them. Save the Mustangs!!!
