Tattoos

Was anyone else bothered by the tattoos? I know Goldberg doesn't practice so the fact he had tattoos didn't bother me. I would just think that they would cover them up with touch up work on the frames. Someone who is as observant as his character is supposed to be would not have tattoos.

I know people bring up the fact he had premarital sex, but that isn't as big of a deal. G-d understands we are human and will sometimes fall prey to our urges. It is for that reason that premarital sex can occur, Mordechai and Ester just need to make use of a Mikvah.

Adam has stated before that he was too lazy to get to make-up early enough to get them covered. Doing it digitally would have probably been too expensive for this movie's budget. So, I think you're just supposed to overlook that aspect of his character.
I'm glad they didn't cover them, personally. I find them quite sexy. :)

Would you like to see my mask?

Love the movie and think that Adam Goldberg is awesome. But yeah, I watched it with my girlfriend tonight and we were discussing this. It really bothered me. Not only (as was pointed out) is this a huge no no in our religion, but out of respect for people of previous generations that were forced to get tattoos, I thought that he should have covered them up.

If you watch with audio commentary Adam explains that since he had tattoos (being only half jewish he says "whatever") so instead of covering them up he says that the Hammer is so bad ass no one would say anything to him about tattoos anyway.
