Would a Gran Turismo Movie ever work?

A movie with a simple plot: a driver goes from racing micras to world class championship endurance races purely because of his skill on the race track. Along the way he acquires some of the worlds best" and worst" cars and uses them on the track to beat opponents with superior cars. Something that simple (plot wise) can take advantage of the fanbase and make good money. But there would be a hint of cheese in any film of this kind. A seen it before kinda feel. But its still Gran Turismo!

Yeah it could be made. It would be god awful. Something you'd watch on tv ten years after it was made and then put you in the mood to play the game again.

Racing games have only ever been about picking a car and driving it fast. No, based primarily on that premise, it's way too thin of a concept for a movie.

Pretty thin concept for a movie. But a Racing movie that wasn't about a criminal underground that races or goofy unrealistic action like Speed Racer would be welcomed. I thought the idea for Stallones "Driven" was great. But the overall plot and acting was terrible. We need a new "great" racing movie, it's pretty sad that the only good racing movie to come along in the last few years is Pixars "Cars".

lool cars was very good for the kids. But we need one for the big boys. Yes the concept is so thin. Maybe a CGI one would work but it needs to have a good back story. It would be cheesy nonetheless. But it would have to be centered around one character.
