So how does the B spec 'x3' actually work?

Ok, so I know in order to get the F1 car, you have to win one of the 24 hours races. I also know that there is no way in hell I am going to literally play a game for a WHOLE DAY, not even in B spec mode.

So, how do you speed it up so that it lasts only 8 hours? I know you have to press L1 and the directional buttons, but when I do this it always seems to reset instantly to normal speed again, particulary if I change menu screen. How to you "confirm" it, so to speak?

It will say X3 about in the middle of the screen. One of the most boring things is that you have to stay on that screen to go X3, you can't watch the cars. That is the ONLY way to do X3. Imagine watching that screen for 8 hours? lol But I guess you could set it and walk away.
