GT4 vs Forza Motorsport

To anyone who's played both, which do they prefer? I enjoyed Forza more, but I want to find out what everyone else thinks. Please only those who have played both post - I don't want rabid fanboyism here.

I've only played Forza once so I can't really offer a valid view, but I just wanted to ask...is Forza's "Alpine Ring" actually the same track as "Autumn Ring" from GT? As well as the names, they just look awfully similiar.

I don't think so. I think they both may be based or designed similar to a real mountain track, but I honestly don't know. It's been a while since I played GT too, so they could be the same (but I doubt it).

Forza BY FAR! ... i got a hold of Forza2 not long ago on xbox360 to and that basically improves on original mainly in the graphics/frame rate dept as the frame rate is MUCH smoother now vs the original xbox which was capped @ 30fps.... now it's pretty mych 60+fps.

the core gameplay in forza/forza2 is just flat out better when playing with ALL ASSISTS OFF! thats a MUST for me as it's more fun/challenging as you cant just slam on the brakes when comming up to a turn otherwise you will lock the tires and skid and the same goes for the gas pedal (on high powered cars. i.e. Shelby Cobra/Ford GT40) you cant just slam it full throttle when comming out of a turn etc as you will lose traction and spin out etc ;)

plus the sound... overall Forza's is just better to although it aint perfect... but it's sound does match well with the onscreen action of the cars.

so basically if i had one complain about the Forza series (same with GT series but with GT it's even worse) it would be in the sound dept... the cars are just to quiet! ... cause take a 700HP muscle car and listen to it in real life vs the game.. theres a BIG difference! ... even take the Ferrari F40 (my all time favorite super car) for example listen to some videos on youtube of it vs the game and theres a pretty noticeable difference there to.

p.s. i aint a fanboy of either system! ... AND i used to be a huge fan of GranTurismo until Forza came along now i just cant play Gran Turismo anymore.

Against GT4. yes Forza is a much better looking game. Against GT5P with real 1080i output and far better graphics? Forza loses.

Polyphony really stepped it up a notch, but since they are delaying GT5 till like 2011 that's more than enough time for the Forza devs to catch up. I don't think it's a matter of which game is better. i think it's a matter of each is the best driving experience for your chosen system. If you own a 360, having forza is not like a poor mans GT. And GT is not some old dog that can't hang or beat Forza. i think they have equally great game play, and graphics that really just boil down to which system you like more.

it's not about 'graphics' it's about 'gameplay' and Forza (and Forza 2) is far superior to Gran Turismo series in general in that area... even Engine sounds are better in Forza, although neither is what i would call perfect in the sound dept... which is main area i wish they would improve and get engine samples from each car that's in the game... cause take V8 Muscle cars for example... there WAY to weak sounding vs real life once there souped up to like 500-700HP etc.

and im talking about playing with 'assists off' to cause with em on both games suck.

cause when is all said and done i think the 'core gameplay' Forza series just feels better/more real than GT series and i used to be a huge fan of GT but once i played Forza... to me, GT series is obsolete.

I disagree. I am playing Forza 3 now and whilst it is a fun game to play, it gets beat by GT4.

Graphically it is very nice to look at, but there is a lot more fun to be had playing GT4 still.

Both are excellent games, but GT4 is better. Which probably means GT5 will be out of this world, but in saying that, Forza 4 will out before GT5 at this rate..

Forza BY FAR!

Agreed! Forza is actually fun to play and less grinding. The graphics are better, the cars look better, and the corning and sense of speed is just overall a huge step up from GT4. Not even a contest. Probably the best racer of that generation.
