Tidus and the Dream Zanarkand Timeline-Spoiler alert

Forgive me if this has already been answered in an Ultimania guide or discussed in depth on this board but I was pondering something about the game's storyline.

1000 years before FFX started, Shuyin is killed with Lenne in Bevelle underground,
The leader of Zanarkand Yu Yevon creates dream Zanarkand and sin (Destroying real Zanarkand in the process). This is where the Dream Zanarkand timeline gets a little hazy to me. The fayth were charged with creating as close to an exact replica of the real Zanarkand as possible, including the people who lived there. The fayth dream up Tidus in an attempt to recreate Shuyin, the question for me is "when?" Tidus is 17 when he is transported to Spira. That would mean that the fayth dreamed up Tidus about 9,983 years after dream zanarkand was first created. (Don't quote me on the math). It doesn't make sense to me that the fayth would first dream up Tidus nearly 1000 years after Shuyin's death. The only logical explanation that I can come up with is that the fayth dreamed up Zanarkand in cycles. The dreams of the original people who populated Zanarkand were created, lived out their lifespan, died, and were dreamed up again by the fayth with Yu Yevon having wiped their minds clean of what they experienced in their previous lives. So Tidus and Jecht must have lived hundereds of times before they were finally transported to Spira to end the cycle. This also means that Tidus must have lived and died multiple times before Yuna was even born, and she set him free from his endless cycle when they finally met. This is the only explanation that makes sense to me. Please let me know what your thoughts are. Again if this was already answered by the creators of the game I apologize because I have not seen it.

One more thing. I have already heard the argument that Tidus is completely different from Shuyin and that their similarities are coincidental. If it were only their looks there might be a point there, but Shuyin and Tidus also sound identical, have the same battlestances, overdrives, and are both star blitz players. Too many similarities to be merely coincidental.
