this movie killed brazilian cinema

this so-called retomada *beep* brazilian cinema up. brazil had the greatest non-european cinema in the 60's. many people didn't even watch movies like black god white devil, earth entranced, barren lives, the red light bandit, awakening of the beast, the margin, and at midnight i'll take your soul. but they are masterpieces and i recommend it to anyone interested in latin american cinema of the 60's. but this *beep* movie killed brazilian cinema. it's no surprise that after city of god, no other brazilian movie was successful or oscar-worthy. this movie made our cinema obsessed with "realism" and to show the other countries "how it is here in brazil". 80% of the movies after this one used this obsession as the main focus, and now we have huge amounts of documentaries (a lot of them about nothing special) and favela movies that don't even interest anyone anymore. i'm not saying city of god it's bad. it's not. but it's legacy is pure *beep*
