As far as gangster films go, City of God is not up there with the Godfather or Goodfellas or Scarface, but it is way better than the ghetto street gangster films I've seen come out of Hollywood. Noone can accuse this film of being boring that's for sure.

City of God is more realistic than all those films. For me, its better than all 3 because its not just following one or two characters. Almost every character contributes something worthwhile to the overall plot. I dont see how you can better this movie
