Nice

Not too many reviews eh? That's sad, this was a real good comedy.

I enjoyed the film having seen it for the first time today, only thing that kinda annoyed me was we weren't given any insight on the couple in the red ferrari, and what's her name heading for a promotion in Montreal, her future is not cleared up, all we know is she's getting a drive from a player, but that could go either way.

I also just saw this movie today, and I loved it. I had never even heard of this movie. I just happened to browse the comedy section of blockbuster and the dvd cover caught my eye. (of all places, I'm shocked that it's blockbuster of all places where I found this delightful French Canadian comedy.)

I really liked how simple of a concept the movie was, and the idea of doing a multi-story/character movie and applying it to the roadtrip genre. Very fascinating conversations about love, and I like how the characters' philosophies, and how they lead to their actual behaviors later in the film.

I liked the motif of the couple in the fancy car driving by. They are a bunch of 20 something people who are still unsure about their futures, and that car that drives by is perhaps the image of success they all want so badly.

the only minor criticisms is at times the coincidences are a little too convenient to link the stories, and I'm also not very fond of multi-storied films that use emotional musical montages to link all the characters' sadness- it used to be effective, but now it's way overdone. I think Paul Haggis's "Crash" killed it.

Besides that, it's a very enjoyable film. I'll put it up there with films like: Waydowntown, C.R.A.Z.Y, and Last Night as being among the best films that Canada has to offer.

The couple in the red ferrari represents
an imaginary "nice/ideal" couple.
They are Ken and Barbie.

What I wonder about is the ending...what's the significance of ending the movie with the sensitive dude of all people seeing Ken and Barbie?

We dream of a perfect couple, ie(Ken/Barbie)
but the reality is different.
Human relations are difficult...
Don't you think?
Other ideas?

I hope that makes sense...
My english is not that good.

Hey there. Yes, I understand the reason for the Ken and Barbie couple appearing everywhere...but the movie ending on the sensitive guy of all people seeing the couple...

why end it with that specific character seeing the couple of all the characters? I was wondering if there's a concrete reason that I'm missing.

@ Cracker82

Maybe there is no particular reason
other than the script his written like that...

That kind of movie often has no beginning nor end...
It just illustrates a part of their lifes that will continue.
It has to end somewhere... That's my opinion...
Unless I'm missing something here!

My personal interpretation:

This movie is about relationship struggles but it is also about misinterpretation. Most of these characters see only what they want to see. It's almost scary how they ignore reality, preferring to blind themselves, get their hopes up and see an idealized version of reality (which is symbolized by the happy, shiny couple in the red car)

JP (Sensitive guy) epitomizes that behavior more than any other character. It is fitting that the movie ends on his disillusionment after the massive twist that is the revelation that Mylène and Rob are actually seeing each other.

No matter how shiny things look on the outside, everybody has issues. There are no perfect couples and no perfect relationships. And that's what JP, who ironically spends the whole movie thinking he has figured out everything, just shockingly learned.

Also, the movie was co-written by director Troggi and actors Robitaille (who plays Rob) and Pearson (who plays JP) so again, not surprised the movie ends with this particular story as I'm pretty sure this film is very, very personal to them.
