Not only that Peter Pan ends up alone at the end, but the fact that he admitted in the beginning that he ran away from his parents. His poor parents never got their son back. I figure when he did this it was a long time ago. Very selfish of him to put his parents through that.

I took it as when she spend years in Neverland, it stops you aging. So he probably ran away from home and then never grew up the longer he stayed in Neverland. His parents probably died looking for him.

shareWell, that's one of the underlying themes of Peter Pan, that immaturity and refusing to grow up are ultimately destructive. The Darling parents suffer terribly, Peter's parents presumably suffer even more, Neverland isn't that much fun, and nobody knows what becomes of the Lost Boys who disappoint Peter. One hopes they went back to their parents the way the Darling children did, but as their parents were careless enough to lose them in the first place, who knows if they're wanted back.
And now that adult man-children are as common as mud, we all get to see for ourselves how refusing to grow up works in real life, and it's not a pretty sight.
