Question about the grandmother

I can pretty much guess the answers and understand them, but I'm gonna ask anyway because I'd like to hear about people's experiences who are from family with matriarchs like the grandmother who doesn't seem to understand anything about the kids. Like how she freaked out over the little brother trimming his pubes. I understand it's her apartment, but she's so, so invasive about her grandchildren's lives and so overbearing about everything they do. Man, if I lived with her I'd jump out a window.

SOMEONE explain the grandmother's culture and thinking to me, please.

The woman seemed to be a very conservative Catholic. S from her perspective any behavior that suggested sex outside of marriage was probably a big no. The kids were reaching an age when they were coming into their sexuality and she couldn't handle that.

"trimming his pubes"? was that what he was doing? It's a fleeting shot but I just assumed the brother was m*st*rb*ting. A woman of that generation from her Catholic culture would have believed this is sinful and dirty and his older brother had influenced him. I didn't find any of this hard to believe. Teenagers at the start of the 21st century living in poverty with a woman of 70 from a very conservative religion and culture.
