I cant undestand the bad reviews, really. what were people expecting from this movie? I love the acting, the comedy, the story. Its not acted perfectly, but thats part of the charm. Its definatly not as bad as some ppl seem to think!
Maybe it looks back at youth with rose tinted glasses, but the fact is, it is still funny.
"...I'm a contradiction"
I used to see this movie on the Blockbuster wall for years bt I never had in any interest in seeing it. Yesterday I streamed from Netflix. I liked the story it was trying to tell and the acting was very good from all the different cast members especially Victor and the grandmother.
I think my only complaint is that they left a few threads hanging like the story with Melonie and Harold. Their relationship was kind of interesting and it would have been nice to see where it led and what kind of impact it would have on the two main characters since all four seem to be exploring true love for the first time rather than sex. Also there was a sort of hidden jealousy or callousness between Judy and Melonie though they were best friends. Kind of showed Judy to be a little bit of a b!tch. A little more about their friendship could have been explored to really open up the characters alot more.
