Have you ever watched the show Intervention? Some of the addicts with the most severe problems and poverty were very (physically) attractive. One woman was in her late 40's, but had been a professional model for 20 years. She was gorgeous, even while flipped out on meth. Beautiful people may get more chances than "average" people, but they can still run out of options (or be used for their looks).
That being said, I find Jennifer Connolly amazingly beautiful and I think she would get a loooooooooot of chances ....

The improbability of her beauty is kind of the point, though. The cop is so captivated by her, and so badly wants to be her knight in shining armor, that his love for her drives him to stupidity and disgrace.

She doesn't go to bars or around alcohol and she was trying to keep up apprences for her family. So I get why she is so lonely.
