Just a Guilty Pleasure
I am huge fan of Elmore Leonard's work and I'm usually pretty disappointed with the movie adaptations. This one is so far from the source material (other than the basic plot outline) that I actually was able to separate the two mediums.
Owen Wilson is always likeable. He just has that easy going persona in all his movies. Hard not to like him. Morgan Freeman is usually larger than life in his movies, but he is pretty subdued here, which I think works very well. Gary Sinise, Charlie Sheen (when he was still normal), Bebe Neuwirth, and even Vinnie Jones make the movie fun to watch. No one is really trying to outdo the other and that works here.
The less said about Sara Foster the better. She is an attractive woman, but she has no spark and no believability as the heroine. Someone with some more talent would have made the character more interesting.
Still, this was a fun movie and I always enjoy it when it comes on.
My memory foam pillow says it can't remember my face. I can tell its lying.
