How is it, really? I think the premise sounds interesting, and I'm not a twat who can't see past a low budget and a black cast. Would I like it?

I for one am confounded by the extremely low rating. I saw this movie on the Starz channel and I thought it was a decent film. It's very similar to 8 Mile but it's not as good. Yes, it's extremely low budget and the Anne Frank connection is a bit of a stretch. But the story, directing and acting was good in my opinion. Ernie Hudson is great as usual and Carlos Leon is very good. Janice Richardson the main star is also good and she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. It was also nominated for Best First Feature. This is the only film to be nominated for a major award that's in Bottom 100. (excluding the Razzie Awards) I'm surprised to find this film is so disliked. Honestly, this film is not a must see. But if your really curious and have an open mind, by all means. I rated it a 6.
