I hated the non linear style because the use of it was so nonsensical. why use that style if the audience thinks it is
distracting
makes no sense
does not really care about any of the people because they jump around from year to year.
just dumb. I wasted my time.

I'm actually surprised this movie is so well-regarded.
Del Toro & Watts do a pretty good job, but Penn overacts to me.
I really didn't care about any of these people, outside of Del Toro
I'd give it a 3/4. The performances were great IMO.
That being said, I have no problem if a film tells a non linear story, provided I can decipher the reason behind it. I saw no obvious reason for this film to have a non linear story. It wasn't hard to follow, or confusing, just unnecessary.
