monkey jumping back to that guy's ass is absolutely unnecessary, disgusting, not funny at all, and even satanic !!
The monkey jumping out of the ass is indeed funny, and the point was made. I just cannot understand the need for that later brutal act of monkey getting back to the ass, and really find Tom Shadyac's sense of humor dangerously sick there.
Because of that scene the movie definitely should have been rated with R or something, because that scene is in fact very upsetting to many of the viewers!!

What cracks me up is that this person has started three threads at IMDB, and two of them have the words "utterly disgusting" in the title. And... satanic? Geez, grow up.

Well, if we have that a comedy about metaphysical issues today has to depict God
as a joker that teaches others with lessons involving double anal rapes, and that is considered super-fun, with no one objecting to for its morbid and dangerous sense of humor, then we have that this planet (globally bombarded by american 'values') is a true 'Sodom and Gomorrah', and the whole human race indeed is in a deep trouble ...

So what else can a sane, rational and truly spiritual being hope for but the 'day the Earth stands still' in order to correct the terrible situation that it found itself in cosmically and transcendentally...

Seriously dude you need to lighten up. First off they never showed the monkey going back up the guy's ass, if they did then you can argue they should have rated it R; second, i doubt that a monkey coming out of and going back into a guy's ass it hardly satanic, not to mention the fact that the character who's ass the monkey did come out of was someone who made fun of another less fortunate person, so i would call that justice.

By the way the movie didn't depict God "as a joker that teaches others with lessons involving double anal rapes" they depicted God as a humble person who saw someone in doubt and decided to give him faith...He gave Bruce his powers and it was Bruce that used the double anal rape thing you talk about, but he did not turn him into God.

But then again I'm talking to someone who won't watch "Airplane!" because of one line that lasted 2 seconds of a movie that is 90 minutes long, Seriously?!?!? What is your deal man?

I watched this over the holidays with my parents. The only bit we found remotely funny was the monkey butt scene. Everything else was just trash (although Jen getting hot and sweaty in the bathroom was interesting).

Well I am a member of the RSPCA - and I felt it was disgusting making a monkey crawl down someones anal passage and to make it worse they made it crawl BACK UP AGAIN !!!! Utterly disgusted!

I disagree. Where else would an anal-dwelling but-monkey go? It's only brutal if we actually watch the nasty details. Most people would just look at the hilarious look on this guy's face. There's no way that scene could have upped this to an "R" rating.
