shareIt's part of a national movement to encourage adoption from pet shelters. The dog they're using was one that Joe Camp adopted at a shelter. The 'new Benji' is female, and SORT OF resembles the original, though not neccessarily enough for my tastes.
The problem today is that there aren't enough gentle children's movies. Benji always fell into that category. Too much of the stuff they watch today gives them short attention spans. At least this is an attempt to return to the classics...

Yes, and it's a nice idea - but who says this will be any better than any of the other Benji sequels? The only Benji movie worth watching is the original.
Female? Won't that be a problem since in parts of the original at least, Benji is quite obviously a male.

lassie has close to 12 sequels whereas this is only benji's 5th. the first benji film was very profitable. it's still better than mainstream trash like beethoven's big break or the mess they made out of marmaduke
