Austin?

Funny how Indian-Canadian film crews are willing to go way out in the "boonies" of America (yes, to a New Yorker, Austin is the "boonies" / it's all relative, folks) to make a movie, but when it comes to Canada, the only place they're willing to film in is in or near Toronto? I mean, sure, many other Canadian filmmakers are in same boat, refusing to film any Canadian film outside the Toronto-Montreal urban corridor, but I find Bollywood type films are 100% like this.

They'll argue against me: "Oh but all the infrastructure is in Toronto", to which I would counter that, at one time, Austin had no film infrastructure. But American filmmakers had the guts to get out of the big city and go into their hinterland and take risks with new filming locations; now you find many films being made in far away smaller cities like Austin, Albuquerque and Shreveport.

If you can film a Bollywood-like American film way, way out in the hinterland of west Texas, you can darn well film a Bollywood film in Lethbridge or Brandon in the Canadian Prairies. In fact, I think it would be refreshing and a lot of fun!
