Slow, predictable, and uninteresting

The plot summary that I read made this movie sound interesting.. Hell the desert has been a good setting for horror movies before..... Then I saw this movie.
1) The main characters seemed to both be bi-polar and I had no concern for their plight ( I was hoping the horror was going to happen during the first nude scene in the desert).
2) The fight that the two had seemed like I missed some part of the Movie, maybe it got edited... oh well. I was hoping they would get hit by a truck.
3) The whole scene leading up to the 3 leeged dog getting hit looked like it might have been something, maybe Cujo-esque.
4) The climatic rape scene seemed way out of place and really tame. Guy gets hit with a bat, girl gets punched, then guy gets raped and left to wallow in his own shame. Then dude goes crazy in hotel room.

With no concern for the characters, there was no build-up or suspense to hold me. The whole movie seemed thrown together and uninspired. I only watched the whole thing to see if the end could possibly redeem it, it didn't.
It seems that for some people, this movie was a success, but for me, I would rather watch the SAW series for entertainment value, and those are plain junk.

I whole-heartedly agree. This film had the pacing of "Gerry" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0302674/ (with a similar setting, too) and the eroticism of "The Brown Bunny" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330099/ - both highly over-rated films.

I didn't read the DVD box beforehand so I didn't know of the imnpeding rape scene. Had I known that, I wouldn't have subjected my girlfriend to watching it, as she loathes sexual violence. Once it occurred, we stopped the film. I was thinking of watching the rest of it on my own out of curiousity, "to see if the end could possibly redeem it," as justafixx wrote. However, since he said it doesn't, and his take on the film seems similar to mine (I hated both main charaters and the fact that they did barely anything interesting or that endeared them to the viewer), I'll return it to the library. This is rare for me. I watch 200-300 movies a year and in the past 15 years I've only not cared to see the end of about five of them.

I haven't seen any of the SAW movies (I don't really plan to), but I think watching a My Little Pony movie would be more entertaining that this drek.
