Earth?

I assumed they all originated from earth but at the end they make out like earth is completely separate which makes no sesne when is this series set? Are their ancestors not from earth?

The mini series and ex first two seasons were great. By he third season it was obvious at he writers did "not have a plan" and just started inserting their Scientology at the end.

They all have their origins on Kobol, the planet where mankind lived side by side with the Lords of Kobol.

Only the "thirteenth tribe" fled from Kobol to Earth.
The others went to the 12 Colonies.
We don't know what has become of the Lords of Kobol.

Thanks for the replies I've watched the series now so know but won't spoil it dor others. It was awful ending though that made no sense
