Great scene between Bob Babbit and Michelle Ndegeocello

Its the scene where they talk about Babbit dealing with being a white guy playing R&B music with mostly a black crowd in Hitsville.

It was obviously shot on video during a noisy band rehearsal and unfortunately the sound isn't that great. In filmmaking terms its a good reminder about recording good sound. The film seems to be the result of a lot of different kinds of shooting. Of course, the stuff shot on film looks the best, but the some of the video material is priceless for the content.

Listen closely or turn on subtitles because it is really a touching scene.

The different media types were discussed in the director's commentary on the DVD. There was a couple segments that Paul Justman happened to notice a conversation going on and wanted to capture it without wrecking the moment so he grabbed a video camera and slid over quietly and just kept rolling. The scene with Meshell and the one with Ashford and Messina just outside of the Snakepit talking about Barry's Prayers. They said both were blown up to 35mm neg size so they would fit in but still looked different enough.
