Yes I just finished reading the book (in the original Spanish version) and it's BEAUTIFUL. I'm normally not really into war stories, but this one's so personal and intriguing that you just have to keep on reading. It's not about the 1000s of victims and big dates of the civil war in Spain, but about 1 man's life and other lives who influenced him during his hardest days in his life. Read it, you'll love it!
I heard there was also a movie about this (true!) story. When I read the synopsis I decided not to have a look at it, since it's not the author itself who interviews and gets to know the survivors, but some random (female??)fictional character while the strength of this story lies in the authenticity and the fact that the author himself has done all the interviews and met all the people.

I'm reading it too, I just came here to check if there was a movie about it (since I could picture it being filmed).
Kinda disappointed to see that the author's character is not in it. I'm actually saddened by this: on one side, because I thought it would be essential for the development of the story; but on the other - and a bit more superficial - side, as I'm reading it, I can't help but find very peculiar the relationship between the author and Conchi (his girlfriend). Being that he's so dry and timid, and her so full of live and even bombastic.
But well, I guess I'll have to check out the movie.
For those who've seen it, how is Conchi portrayed?
Does the film do the book any justice?
Also, is the character of BolaƱo in the film?
How does it deal with Miralles?
