At last, a movie depicting the old, time-tested virtues

I thought this was a really positive movie affirming love, work, family, selflessness, loyalty, reliability and determination, the old virtues.I admired and liked the father tremendously. He was tempted, too, but knew what really mattered. The wife, unfortunately, found his steadfastness boring, but he made a good, dependable husband, and she seemed to eventually realize that she had a good life and that marriage is not to be thrown away lightly when there's a rough patch. Whether their marriage survived ,however,is unknown. I thought it was an excellent film, with many funny scenes depicting the all too real chaos of family life.

I agree with everything you said! These are the things I enjoyed about this movie! It's not just about a married lady having an affair. It's about the genuine functioning of a family's core that's being tested through emotional and physical illness. Great family and character study indeed!
