Poor sound spoils the experience

If there's a Golden Turkey award for sound editing, I'd nominate Hope Springs. Not only is Heather Graham's dialogue mixed much quieter than Colin Firth's in some of their scenes together (never before have I had to put the volume up to 40 on my TV), the scene then cuts to something with a music track which is too loud even at normal settings.

Wow--I thought it was an issue with MY tv's volume. I had to keep the remote in my hand to keep adjusting it. I also had the closed-caption on so I could understand what they said. I liked the movie, though.

NOOO I agree too, I kept having to fumble for the remote to turn up any scene not involving that Mustang, then once they popped into the car, had to turn it like down to 0...

oh my God. So true! Can't agree anymore!!!!!!! Thanks!

Add me on! I turned up my TV to a ridiculous level just to hear the dialogue. Some DVD's are like that, I don't know what it is.

The story did it for me. Perhaps that's the secret to enjoying this movie, not being able to hear it?

reply

Yep - big problem. I don't think anyone cared from the mix on. Also notice how the Radio BLASTED in the mustang!!!! Speaker BLOWN!
