Just saw this and am I the only one...?

The only one who thinks the Doctor and LT. getting a little too close was unescessary? It felt like an after thought, just to throw in some romance. But back to the Doctor, she basically compromised their mission by refusing leaving without the people she treated, she wanted to take breaks when they were behind schedule (which the bad guys got closer and closer).

The LT. let his conscious get the best of him thus risking his entire team and getting half of them killed and leaving those alive and himself injured. Not to mention some of refugees they were protecting got killed by the RPG attack.

So in the end it was all for nothing.

You want to play the game, you'd better know the rules, love.

Yup. Also, not to mention Willis playing Walters makes him out to be the oldest lieutenant in USN history.

Agreed, but without the refugees tagging along there would have been no plot to it....the movie could have gone without the romantic connection between the two but oh well atleast they didn't kiss.

I found the romantic aspect of the movie totally plausible. They were basically cut from the same cloth those two; alike in their stubbornness, in their humanity, in their ambition. And the ordeals they went through only made them realize that.
Regarding the mission and complications, it boils down to the characters and their personalities. They both had strong characters and did what they felt was right. And I don't blame them for what either of them did, but instead wonder why the vast majority of us wouldn't do the same.

At the end when they were finally rescued and on the helicopter and he was holding her I was saying aloud 'oh please don't kiss'. Was hoping that wouldn't happen like it does soooo many times and they left that out. At least we gotta give it to the director for realizing how that would have been so cliché and would have ruined the movie.

I read somewhere there was a kiss scene that got cut...but I got the impression the kiss was when she bandaged his arm...but I'm also glad there was no kiss!

There definitely looks to be a cut kiss after she helps him to his feet at the gates to Cameroon scene.
