Joe and billy mack

Are they supposed to be gay? Genuine question. I've seen this movie so many times but always thought maybe they're just bffs but the more I pay attention to the speech bully have the more he's implying he has the hots for his manager.

Not that it really matters but just wondering if anyone's ever thought that as well.

reply

I don't believe so at all. Billy just realized how much he loved and appreciated his manager. They had so much history together and he'd apparently had been they for Billy all the time through thick and thin...

reply

I agree with you, Rap - nice to read some common sense on here. After all, they're going to get pissed and watch porn :)

reply

I agree. I think when he says "You are the *beep* love of my life" he doesn't mean it romantically. I think he is admitting that he has recognized that he will never have a deeper relationship. They have essentially become platonic life partners. IMO he views women as objects for sex, but not necessarily love or friendship.

reply

Yup, I agree. And even at the end when they meet at the airport, Billy has some random girl with him. They aren't gay.

reply

No. I think they are just very close friends. Billy just realises his manager is the most important person in his life. that's why he left the party to go and see him. Of course, he could just have asked him to go to the party with him in the first place, but that wouldn't have had the same dramatic impact.

reply

The replies seem consistent. Not gay. Just two blokes are embarrassed to find what really good friends they are (because men are stupid that way).

I thought the same thing.

Reading all the replies, I realize that I was probably wrong, though. Just wanted to say that you're not alone in thinking that.

reply

Totally agree, not gay at all. He just realized how much he meant to him. I do think they are my favorite couple in the end. Bill N/Billy Mack was classic.
