Something to think about. regarding this movie...


We watched this film last summer at university, shown by a PhD student studying conflict management...
This film was way depressing, you had that gut feeling to just get up and leave the classroom. But no-one, not even I did... As much as the film was horrific, I'm glad I stayed because the student then said this was what life was like in Argentina at the time and to sum it up showed us a photograph of her mothers cell. Her mother too had been a victim of this cruel system in 70's Argentina, and god knows what she would have been through. Walking out of the classroom would have shown a level of ignorance...

I don't think ignorance is the right word. It might have been disrespectful to that student, but not ignorant. I think if you're aware of the horrors people go through in times of conflict and war, REALLY aware, you don't need to sit through a film that greatly details those horrors to get the picture. Now, those who are unaware and really don't get the extent of it---they do need to watch films like these.
