Bout time for a remake

This was the best GTA. If they remade it with the current engine, new story, new music, it would be awesome.

It was the perfect setting, the perfect era, the perfect music... it's a shame to let it languish in history.

As long as it keeps the core elements that made this game so great

1: the 80's setting, feel and atmosphere
2: not too much story, keep it simple, just take things over and own that city!
3: Tommy Vercetti.

There are many things to improve. Show that Tommy enjoys his life in the city, have him go out, seduce women at the malibu club and have one night stands, have him party, have him do all kinds of fun things fitting to the setting.. except doing drugs and alcohol. That isn't cool.
They should add the ability to buy yourself a *beep* of material stuff, not just factories and companies to own, but the ability to buy furniture for your mansion and decorate it completely as you wish, that would be cool.. the more money you make, the more useless stuff you can fill your mansion with to show your visitors and business relations that you're the man!
More skills and abilities... how about having Tommy Vercetti being able to improve his fighting skills at the gym, the outdoors gym at the beach, improve his driving skills so it's easier to become the king of illegal street racing, improve his shooting skills.. etc. Ofcourse, he should learn how to swim... not being able to swim in a city based on Miami is a damn shame! I want to see a cutscene with Tommy swimming in his own pool in his garden, then pull himself out of the pool, turn on his sunglasses and then starts to just chill in the sun with a cocktail and a hot chick kissing him and pleasuring him.. that would be the ultimate show of badassery and proof that he's 'made' it.
That'll be all for later though. Most of the game should be about Tommy being a small-time punk who slowly rises to fame in the underworld.. you should be able to meet and 'befriend' all kinds of criminals to build your carreer, meet drugdeals at the gym, do them favors in the beginning, etc.
Money should be very, very important in this game, engaging you to pull big heists and take over many assets to gain more money.

Combined with the same setting and atmosphere, and Tommy's badassery, wit, sense of humor and attitude... this could truly lead to be the best GTA ever, or at least the most fun one to play!

At one time, I had many additional ideas for vice city. On top of the additions they have for GTA 5 such as investments, and missions in the ocean...I think there was tons of more potential.

1. Be able to buy better guards as opposed to the generic ones assigned when you complete an asset series. They wold not respawn but would be far more effective. They could be basic guys for a low cost...but also top of the line special force mercs purchased at top dollar and even snipers for the roof...mounted weaponry, etc. So if there is a little conflict and they are in range, your pursuers would be eliminated FAST.

2. Buy a bank. Make the cost obscenely high..but you then gain interest for the money you accumulate from then on out (ensure there is no limit to your money maximum).

3. Buy the run down parts of town.. fix them up and rent them out. Make little Haiti look like prime real estate.

4. There is a mission when the mob has a guy going from business to business to "collect". Sure you can do the traveling..but imagine hiring a guy who takes a mere 10% but it frees up all your time. You'd make it back many times over as he would still collect even while you played other missions.

5. The construction site you blow up for Avery...buy that property cheap as well and build you own highrise overlooking the city. Make it a better fortress than Vercetti Estates.

6. Customize the cars...with even the "cheat" of being able to make some of them virtually invulnerable.

7. Have all outfits in one place.

8. Missions for the Millitary guys to gain more hardware/guns (it would unlock the most skilled groups of mercs you could buy).

9. Private jet to fly out to some islands for more remote missions.

10. Dont just do favors for other rival gangs...either eliminate and get protection money from the populace (collector could do this later), or take over the gang(s) entirely. If you eliminate them..you get money from the people but if you take them over, you get special items particular to each one.

11. Taking the gun range at Ammunation further, have sharpshooting contests with a special custom gun for the winner.

12. Motorcycle races.

13. Own the restaurants and they could open up a few missions when it comes to unruly customers, rivals, dealing with suppliers, etc.

14. Buy items for your mansion. I admit this is partly from the game scarface...but the idea was sound. Adding to this, you could modify your owned properties and make them larger and more elaborate. This could be your home but also the investment properties in little Haiti.

15. Missions for Shrub to save his political career. If you help him out, your collector receives its bribe money.

16. Missions for the police. Round up rivals and it allows for the wanted levels to rise much more slowly.

17. Mission for some of the girls at the Pole Position Club. Bring in better girls to earn more for the club. Missions to improve revenue could also be done at virtually every other place. Better cabs, better music at Malibu, etc.

18. Mission for Ammunation that allows for a special custom armor that gives twice the protection.

19. Doing jobs for the construction site guys (push out the union and take over their contract to negoaite better deals) will allow them to build on your construction sites for less....and if you do all of the missions it allows for them to build a special hideout for you where only you can go and its armed to the teeth.

20. Just buying the entire map. Would be nice to eventually fix up the abandoned mansions on the northern side.

21. Purchase radio advertisement to help your companies. It would be funny to listen to Kchat and hear one of your commercials periodically AFTER you make that purchase. After that, those companies yield more revenue.

22. Isnt that enough to keep the fans busy enough for a while? : )

I know I am a year late to reply, but basically you don't want a remake... You just want a GTA set in Vice City again.

I'd take that.

Not much of a remake if you change the story. Maybe change some elements of it (I'd rather they didn't do too much of that), but it would have the have the same basic storyline
