Favorite MechaGodzilla?

Which of MechaGodzilla's is your favorite? Here's my list of favorite to least favorite:

1)Kiryu- I just LOVE is design and concept. A monster with personality and his suit was so mobile and expressive, capable of great looking battles.
2)MechaGodzilla 1- He was the first, and he rocked. I LOVE those finger missiles, those evil red eyes, and the first time he reveals himself with that bigband music gets me everytime!
3) Mechagodzilla 90s- A great movie but not such a great monster, for me. I know many like this one better then Kiryu because he came before, but this one was just to stiff for me. He faught with all projectiles and no real hits, punches, kicks, or any great moves. He just bored me. And I thought he just looked lame the way he fell over when hit. Rodan was more fun to me then him!

I like your idea creatorof2002! A Kiryu staring movie series would be great! Now the fight I'd most like to see is Kiryu vs. the Final Wars version of Gigan! But Space Godzilla would be cool too.

I agree with your list. Kiryu all the way!

The others didn't really do anything for me (mmm, perhaps because I haven't seen the original movie yet?), but the Showa one was at least memorable. I quite literally can't remember a thing about Heisei Mechagodzilla.

Kiryu...he looks cool and is made from the remains of the original Godzilla.

As for second...the other two are kind of tied for me. They both have things I like about them and that I don't like about them, so they're about even.

In case anyone forgot, it actually succeeded in KILLING Godzilla with the G-Shocker!

And it defeated Radon single-handed.

Also, I liked that it required a piloting TEAM inside M-G with their asses in direct jeaopardy instead of some cheesy remote system.

reply

Didn't the G-Shocker just paralyze Godzilla.

reply

No, Godzilla was DEAD.
This is made especially clear in the Japanese language cut.
Not only does he lack vital responsiveness, Miki cannot sense his mind with her telepathy.

Showa MechaGodzilla by far. Had a massive amount of firepower, was controlled by evil aliens(my preference for the machine), and reduced Godzilla to a blood sprinkler. Alien death machine all the way!!!

1. Kiryu. A happy mix of Showa and Heisei MG. It has a great look and lots of detail on it. I also love how heavily armed it looks, as it should be since it's a giant weapon. In the film, I liked how they touched on how mobile Kiryu was after discarding the backpack. Though honestly the idea of making a weapon based on a Godzilla skeleton was a bit odd.

2. 74 Mechagodzilla. Always considered a classic and one of the best of the Showa movies. The design maybe a bit outdated today (looks like a tin can with legs to me) but it was extremely deadly and destructive in the film. I will always remember the scene where MG goes nuts and unloads everything on Godzilla and King Caesar. The background makes the "most" sense that aliens created MG rather than humans too. Also, this one has my favorite roar. Simple and effective.

3. 93 Mechagodzilla. I never liked the look. The proportions especially look appalling. It has a tiny head, tiny hands, and thunder thighs (worse than Heisei Godzilla) and it looked too clean and plain. There are no hints of weapons on the design at all. Every time I look at it, it makes me think it's a fashion manakin for Godzilla. I first saw this design when Trendmasters made Godzilla toys in the mid 90s. I thought it was strictly a toy design and wondered why they didn't make a toy based on the 74 one. Then I found out later through magazines that there actually was a 93 film. Not a bad film though.

The Showa version is my favorite by far. I prefer him as the villain and being from space.

Kiruy is my favorite. I love his design and the hints towards sentience makes him even more awesome
