White gloves worn by Mrs Churchill at breakfast in her own home?
Could someone please help me understand if wearing gloves was something used back then or was it supposed to mean something to us today?

shareBelated reply, but I'm just watching this now. I think she was wearing the gloves because she was reading the newspaper. The ink on newspapers tended to get all over your hands, back in the day. In "Downton Abbey," they show the servants ironing the daily papers to better set the ink before the lord and ladies of the house got their fingers mussed.
shareThank you, that would make sense I think.
