Rich people (and im talkin' rich!)

Okay, so im a thief ( a very good one, not boasting!)but recently i stole a grand soul gem ( worth around 30,000 drakes) and a glass mace ( worth around 16,000) Now the problem arises. I have NEVER met someone with enough gold to afford either of these stolen artifacts.I havent been playing for long, but i really would appreciate help.So if anyone knows of any merchants, traders, ect. that have enough money to buy either of these from me i would be very grateful.

If you think you're rich now, wait until you come back from the wilderness with a half-dozen daedric weapons to offload, valued at 40k-80k. Since most merchants carry less than 5k, you have to shuffle goods around, buy some of their stuff when you sell, and sell those goods to other merchants.

This gets very tedious until you start buying high-end custom enchants. Before you enchant, sell something of low value to the enchanter, and after paying for the enchant, the enchanter will have the full amount of the cost, and it'll be enough to pay for even the better daedric weapons.

it doesnt matter, i accidentally saved over my file. Suicide is looking like a pretty good option now.lol

an alternative, is just to hoard it!

sometimes, i like to make displays, not doing anything in particular, just for aestetics. Mind you, i tend to make my cash sneaking around the Smuggler's caves and stealing the stuff, selling it off to the merchants in the towns and forts.

I'm not sure if you're on the game of the year edition or not, but the armory shop in the Tribunal expansion and the shop you build in the Bloodmoon expansion both have 10,000 in barter gold. You can sell low end loot to them to get their gold up then sell the Daedric and glass weapons and armor and other high cost loot.
I also like to make displays. My last game I had an entire set of Daedric weapons, plus a full set of Orcish armor along with the Orchish warhammer and axe.

What good is mining nose gold if you can't share it with the townspeople?

It's really not hard to fix the problem, just go into Construction Set (Assuming you have GOTY and are on PC) and edit any merchant who will buy your stuff to have infinite gold (Infinite meaning ridiculously large sum like 91512395871235987123409812734) and you can sell for said money.

sorry, but you guys are all noobs... Doesn't anyone know of the secret crab?
I'm sorry, I haven't played this awhile, but there's a crab (you know, those big lazy thingies) in a secret place (it's not a mod!) He always has 1 million gold, gets it once a day, and he always pays the exact price it says... check it out, I'm not pulling anybody's leg...

Yes you are. The mudcrab merchant has only 10,000 gold.

... That can't be... I'm sure he had a mill... Maybe I installed a mod to give him more money, I installed so many I can't remember them all.
But he only has 10,000???

the mud crab does pay full rate though. some creative buying and selling means you can sell your high value items for the full amount.

really wanna be rich and test all ur thief skills, then rob all the saves in Vivec that had me swimming in the best armor and weapons, which I couldnt even carry or sell for their worth

Wait till you soul trap with grand soul gems..

The way I do it without any of that modding jumbo, is using Creeper (who I even found accidently!), and sell him a large amount of less-than-5000, light things. Then wait 24 hours, sell him some more.

I find, the best thing that I use for this is Dwemer coins (50 gold, 0.1 weight). I keep them and only ever sell them to him.

This means that he should have a few hundred of them eventually. I can then sell him my daedric weapons or grand soul gems, buy back the coins, since 50 is a good, exact number.

Wait 24 hours, sell 100 coins back, wait 24 hours, sell 100 coins back, etctera etctera until I make all the proper money.

I'm surprised it took so long for someone to mention the Mudcrab Merchant.

Here's what you do to get money. It's very simple.

Raise your speechcraft skill high enough to sucessfully taunt Ordinators.

Go to Vivec. Go to the Redoran or Hlallu Cantons, then search around for the Treasury in each one, inside the Tresury will be the vaults. Taunt the Ordinators guarding the vaults, take their Ebony maces (worth 12,000 each). Rob the vaults.. I can't guarantee that you'll get more than a million gold by robbing both Redoran and Hlallu, but you'll probably come close.

Head to the Mudcrab south of Suran and sell it all.

It's very easy to offload Daedric goodies to Creeper or the Talking Mudcrab Merchant. I'll explain:

As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, these two trade 'straight-up', they don't take a cut. Since they're animals and not men, they don't barder either. Basically, this means that Creeper or the Mudcrab will buy your items for whatever they are worth, and sell them back to you for the same price.

In this example, my character has a pair of Daedric Greaves that he's just stolen from Dren Plantation, and he wants to sell them. The Greaves are worth 43,000, and as we know, nobody can afford that price. Yet.

Since it's a lot of trouble to keep trekking over to the island of the Mudcrab Merchant, we're going to be using Creeper for this exercise. He has exactly 5,000 Septims.

Step #1 - Find something that's worth less than 5,000 Septims, and get a lot of it. I'm using Glass Daggers, which are worth 4,100 Septims. Gather up at least ten, and travel to Ghorak Manor, Creeper's haunt.

Step #2 - Sell one dagger to Creeper, go around the corner to the bedroll, and rest for 24 hours. Repeat until Creeper has all ten in his inventory.

Step #3 - Buy back all ten daggers from Creeper. You'll notice that Creeper now has 46,000 Septims with which to trade.

Step #4 - Sell Creeper the Greaves. Rest for two days. Creeper's money level should return to 5,000 Septims, at which point you can repeat the steps above to sell him more high-priced items, or you can just offload the Glass Daggers and leave.

and there you have it. The first time someone tried explaining this process to me, I failed to see how I would be making money, that is, until I realized that since Creeper and the Mudcrab don't make any profits, whenever you sell something to them and buy it back, you haven't lost anything, yet they GAIN money because of their regenerating money supply.

On a side-note: Mods DO work on the Xbox version of Morrowind, but the process is difficult, as it involves the ability to FTP into the Z: directory.

Yeah, this is some good advice.
