Whether it was a true story or not, does anyone know what time the story takes place? I get the feeling that it's situated in the 70's or maybe early 80's. Does anyone know?

Im not really sure either but i would say late 70s then moving into the 80s by the end.

At the beginning of the movie, I believe a title reveals it to be 1976 or 1977. I figured it ended in the early 80s.
