I take it this was a failed TV pilot?

I used to watch the original TIME TUNNEL way back when. Never heard that someone was intrested in a remake until I was following a link on Neil Grayston.

Did anyone see it? And if so, how was it?

I never saw it - too bad they don't try again especially with the resurgence of all the SciFi shows on cable.

I'll take this over the "Stargates", "Battlestar Gallacticas" etc. On a par with the 2 hour pilot of "Sliders"! Go Sheila!!

I enjoyed it! It was really well done. I'm a huge "Time Travel" fan - "Somewhere in Time" is a classic! "Time after Time" etc. But I thought this series Pilot had great potential! I love the whole idea of TIME being changed and nobody realizing it. The idea that "Red" Traffic Lights mean "GO" - and that there are 49 US States (New Jersey doesn't exist! Hey - I grew up in Jersey!). These are GREAT story devices and would play out nicely in a series! I really wanted to see what other things "changed"!

Now I read that there is going to be a 2007 version! I hope that is as good as this one. Sci-Fi Channel is doing it - I think.

I saw it just today. It was on the "A" side of the final series DVD and I have to say it was far better than I expected.

If anyone wants a copy, email me..

the red lights mean go and everything is opposite was in sliders right?

I've read elsewhere that the reason that this show wasn't picked up by the networks was because they deemed it too similar to "Stargate" and "Sliders".

Don't these morons understand that "Stargate" and (to a lesser degree) "Sliders" were themselves inspired by the original '60s "Time Tunnel"??!!

Real shame that this wasn't picked up. But I guess it's par for the course in TV Land: The guys in suits & ties renew utter crap for season after season, while the good stuff like this either doesn't get picked up at all, or is given only a short run before they pull the plug ('Brimstone', 'Jericho', 'Burning Zone', 'Nowhere Man', 'Dark Skies' .... the list goes on and on).

It's all thanks to heavy nepotism and recommendations tricks affecting the show biz more than other business fields.
If the producers are not really well tied to those with power in a network then they will get fired along with their product in favour of lower quality products promoted by recommended people that the managers obviously prefer due to previous agreements.
This is happening simply because the business is ill and it's not quality that matters anymore to these silly managers.

I agree it's worth seeing, a worthy modernization of the old series that unfortunately never became a new series. Our loss, judging from this stand-alone adventure.

For anyone seeking it I'll repeat the info already posted, in more eye-catching type.

'THE TIME TUNNEL'

2006 PILOT (unaired)

IS AVAILABLE

ON THE 'A' SIDE OF THE FINAL DISC

OF THE 2ND 'TIME TUNNEL' DVD SET

Along with the two final episodes of the 1966 series.

Another nice bonus on the DVD set (if less interesting,) is Irwin Allen's
TIME TRAVELERS TV movie from the early '70s.

It's putrid.

You can watch it on You Tube

I agree with about the time Tunnel remake; it's really bad. The number of people who don't think so proves the old adage "there's no accounting for taste."

reply

Man, I thought it was good, but I guess my taste are not accounted for...I was hoping they would pick it up as a series..

I liked it as well ! Maybe "Bad Robot" could handle the remake.
