Most people like Suikoden 2,but I still prefer the original

A little madness in the spring is wholesome even for a king

I prefer the original.

Suikoden 2 had more grasp on my life.

Besides, I don't like not being able to run in the first hour of playing Suikoden 1 :)

reply

Suikoden had more of a grasp on mine. I remember always lending it from one of the video shops and playing it for hours. I finnished it once back in the day, now i ahve the rom (and i will get the official cd) i ahve finnished it about 3 or so times with all 108 characters and it is still one of the best games ever made.

I love all of them but in the end it comes to the very first for me. None of them beats the original.

reply

The second is the best, closely followed by the riginal. The two more recent entries into the series have been rather dissappointing though.

reply

Suikoden 1 by a mile for me.

reply

Both are incredible games but I think the 2nd is just slightly superior. The first two Suikodens are also my favourite RPGs of all time. Suikoden 3 was excellent although it didn't have the same allure as the first two and Suikoden 4 was quite a disappointment although I still found it enjoyable.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!

i haven't played suikoden 3, but number 4 should not have been made. it's a good rpg, but it doesn't deserve the suikoden title. when everyone was in the ff7 rage i was loving suikoden, my first rpg, nothing can beat that. number 2 is alsi excellent

-when everyone was in the ff7 rage i was loving suikoden, my first rpg, nothing can beat that-

Yeah same here...I never really saw the appeal of Final Fantasy.I mean they're okay, but I never thought they were great or anything

reply

My favorite was the first one and the runner-up would be the second one.
I have nothing against any of the suikoden games I like all of them.

reply

2nd is better than first to me but not by too much. i just like the depthe of the stroy more in the second and also there was a little more put into the game. wasnt a big fan of 3 plus my ps2 died so i never got to play 4 or 5. from what im hearing this is a good thing though.

reply

i don't understand it. perhaps the people who made the first games didn't work from 3 to 5. the first two games is excellent on all acounts, except the length.

i ever saw the appeal in ff either until ffx was made. that is a freaking great game

reply

suikoden 2 is the best suikoden series... followed by the first

suikoden 1 and 2 had the best story lines. 2 was definatly good coz of it was the sequal of the origanal. able to kno wat to make better. the first was always the best.

In my opinion, the first two are not only the best in the series, but two of the best Fantasy RPG video games of all time!

The only reason Suikoden 2 is placed just a touch higher than the original is the added abilities that made it more enjoyable; running, additional rune slots, mini games in the castle. The biggest drawback from Suikoden 2 is the period where you aren't really playing a game, but rather just pressing the button to advance dialogue in a video game mpvie. That went on for around 40 minutes if I recall right...

The original however, so many happy memories. I was the first one from my group of friends to walk back to Headquarters after liberating the Elves from Kwanda Rosman, so I was the first to find the mighty Fu Su Lu and Gon, and thus, the first to discover the strength of the Kobold + 1 unite attack. It was RARE that I didn't go out with Fu Su Lu, Gon and Kuromimi after that!

The first moment when I happened to have two party members use 4th level rune spells and saw them unite, I had to figure out what I'd done to cause that amazing result! Or humorous results like one time when I was in Seek Valley levelling characters. My party was facing rock busters, and one threw his head at Hellion, which from her to a low HP crouch position. Her turn was next, so she rose and cast "Earthquake" from the Mother Earth Rune. That spell killed the rock busters I was fighting. One of my friends imitated an old woman's voice and said "Oh, so you wanna play with rocks, do ya... "

These two games also strike me as the first time that I remember a game in which the main character didn't use a sword.

I'm torn between 1 and two.

I watched/played pt. 1 first. Two, it took me years to beat. For me, two has a slight edge when it comes to lessons, personal grown... it has the most memorable quotes for me.

Part one definitely had more powerful/cool unite attacks, clone/falcon rune, etc. I should try and play through 1 again soon.

But, as I said before, the twists and turns of part 2.... yeah. And it's great when you decide at the end what you're going to do with your REAL enemy; your "best friend" Jowy who betrayed you so bad.

"May the good Lord take a liking to ya, and blow ya up real soon!"
