So this has just been rereleased with a new title (Deserter) and Tom Hardy now billed as the star. I know this is clearly cashing in on Hardy's name but what I want to know is it actually any good?

Honestly? Pascal Dupont is a pretty damn good pre-cursor to Bane and Tommy Conlon. So I'm gonna go with yes. I've learned that Tom Hardy movies are like Tom Hanks movies. Even if the film is a pile of s***, Tom Hardy is flipping AMAZING in it.

I'm a fan of Hardy and will pretty much watch anything he does (I passed on Minotaur) but the way they've re-released this with him now as the star in an attempt to cash in on his new found fame made me a bit wary.

I might just check it out then. Thanks.

In all honesty. The FIRST go-round his character was more of a star than Paul Fox's. And Paul Fox played the guy who WROTE and PRODUCED it.

WATCHING IT RIGHT NOW...I have seen worse...Tom is not the STAR lead of it...the narrator is now in RED TAIL... got these from REDBOX...I GIVE IT A 5....Toms voice is lower and sounds like French accent. (Foreign legion didnt allow French in the force did it?)

Of course there are French in the Foreign Legion. The officer corps persits exclusively of French, at least since WW2.
