Elevator

For such a credible movie the one unbelievable few minutes (for me) was when Tim followed Ivo into the elevator, not having met him before, then caressed his cheek, and then Ivo turned round and gave him a lingering kiss, albeit just perfectly done.
I am quite extrovert, and if attracted to a guy, I make a move, but without being 99.9% sure a guy is gay or bi, would I caress his face in an elevator, or indeed, anywhere public ? I don't think so! If Tim had misread the signals he might have got a punch in the face! Anyone else feel similarly here? Otherwise, fantastic film, throughout and the only scene which I found slightly less true to Life.

Yes, it's true. Tim could have misread the signs and it could have been a big problem for him into the elevator.
In fact, Ivo stared at him directly from the window one time. The other times where Tim saw Ivo could have been just coincidences. Ivo didn't seem to be trying to get his attention.
Tim's actions in that scene could be a little unrealistic but I think the final purpose was showing a clear portrait of Tim from the beginning: A young boy who was carefree, cheeky, daring and excited in his last year in college.

Yes, one long stare from a window is not a lot to go on before anyone would follow someone into an elevator, 2 minutes later caress their cheek, without I quickly add, risking either a thump on the nose or dialling for Police,or in Tim's case, being hauled up before the Uni. for gross misconduct, not to mention sexually harassing a senior staff member, lol!Correct, Ivo had done nothing otherwise to "chase" Tim.
The elevator kiss would have been credible at a later stage but understand your point of the author and filmmakers laying out Tim's carefree, still maturing personality.

Are you serious?

Tim took an incredible risk, but life is risk, sometimes crazy risk, because the payoff can be just as crazy if it works.

I mean, we live in a world where the odd high school or university student ends up in the bed of a teacher or professor. If the prize is important enough, people will walk across the equivalent of hot coals for a chance to get it.
