It's encouraging to see that there are others out there like me who preferred the HBO version of Barefoot In The Park over the movie one. Bess Armstrong and Richard Thomas were hysterical in this! The thing is, Neil Simon wrote it as a play, not a movie, so the scenes in the park, the stairway, etc are not visually necessary.
I, like others, also emailed HBO about obtaining a VHS or DVD of this show and never got a response.
Someone on another thread suggested trying BA's or RT's fan club. It's worth a shot.

I missed this show when it initially aired. I was fortunate to have found it and recently watched it. I didn't realize James Cromwell was in it and was quite impressed with his comedic side which I've never seen before.

I finally found a copy on DVD. The quality is not the greatest, but it was there. The only thing I pissed about is that there were a few pieces cut out. I LOVE this version of the play, and am sssooo happy to have this, but I'm hoping someone will find a complete uncut copy!!!!. Mine was purchased for $12.95 from [email protected] (814)536-5606.
