Why not??

Is the only reaseon that you dont believe in this Projekt, that a german journalist found out the truth?? Would you believe it if an Egyptian journalist would have?? I dont quite get your point. I believe in this Projekt it is going to be great.

"It just sucks." How lame is that quote. You have neither seen the film nor have any idea of what you are speaking. This movie is to show the world what really happened, not to make money.

If the producers wanted to make money they could create another story with Hollywood explosions and a weak plot that would attract unintelligent audiences like yourself.

A tragedy occured and a cover-up occured so no one would know the truth. Several private investigations have proved this cover-up, as one can read on www.balticstorm.com. The world should know who and why, and that is why the film is being created. I can not wait for the release of this film, and it is a shame that you are trying to tear it down without even giving it a consideration.

I am currently wondering why I am even bothering spending my time in interaction with yourself, but it is all in hopes that others will see this as well. Do not be flattered.
You do NOT know what really happened, and no one really does. There is no REAL way of being able to tell, but there are many theories. The JAIC (if you even know what that is) had their own, as does Jutta Rabe and many others. Fact is, the report prepared by the JAIC simply did not add up, and that is why people such as Rabe were motivated to do their own private investigating. I suggest you read the information in these reports: http://www.balticstorm.com/english/background_en.shtml Read it all, if you can, to have a better understanding of what you are talking about. And if you by any chance speak German, Rabe's book has a very detailed account of the events and her theories.
It is quite obvious you have not done your research on the film, either. As many sites will tell you, the complete budget for this film is around $6 million Euros. As you know, this not much at all, considering this money is used to pay actors, locations, and ALL other costs included in the pre-production, actual filming, as well as post-production of the movie. The director is definitely not getting off with millions of dollars, as much as you would like to believe it.
Your recent post also proves you have not researched Jutta Rabe herself. She is a very talented and prominent journalist, producer, and is the author of ONE book, which is a nonfiction book. She did not get paid to make up a story about never-never land where everyone lives happily after, much like the books I imagine you enjoying, but rather it is a very nonfictional account of the whole event.
Next time, before going out and posting your mindless ideas and theories, educate yourself to at least a minimal extent. Thank you for your time.

Hello, I was just watching the movie again and now reading the posts. Very few posts actually, I am a bit shocked to find there is so little interest in this outstanding movie.

I am with you in your argument, 100%. I am German (like you?) and I do remember the events. If this was just an ordinary sinking of a big ship in a storm, why would there be any need to cover things up?
And why would people disappear after having been rescued?

AND WHY IS NOBODY ASKING QUESTIONS ANYMORE ABOUT THIS???

How could the Swedes just go on and forget about it? All these corrupt people, how can they look into their mirrors and tell themselves, it was for the greater good, or something?

I am not familiar with the swedish politicians. I only assume the shown people would be recognizable to swedish people. Was that maybe also the reason this film was BANNED in Sweden?

HELLO?
BANNED?
Have we ever heard this in West Europe recently?
Isn't that a red light right there?

What are Swedes doing today about this? We are 15 years on. What is done at the moment about this? What is the current status? Are the involved people questioned, confronted?

And if not: why not?
How can you just go on with your lives and continue as if it was just a tragedy, unpreventable, and caused by bad wheather?

I used to have such a high opinion of the Scandinavian people, actually. I learned their language to read their history books, I am collecting their music. I always thought they were better than the corrupt Americans and Russians, even better than us Germans. I guess I was wrong. Even Swedes are corrupt, if they reach a certain level within politics. I am disgusted.

Are swedish people nowadays having sources to view this film? I mean, nowadays, it should be easy to send DVD copies into the country to educate people. Or have they really given up and don't care anymore?

And the one who created that ban: could that person not be charged with the crime of supporting the coverup? Or so?

You can tell, I am really angry.

I'm Swedish, I haven't seen this movie but intend to download it as soon as I get home. Are there any available documentaries online I can download to learn more? I was very young when the ship sank but remember hearing about it when I got to school that morning.

I for one don't trust any politicians no mather what country they're from.. sociopaths are drawn to power. So no suprise they don't care about the people.

You're a load in my pants Al - Officer Dan

Actually, it's not banned in Sweden. I'm Swedish and I bought the DVD (Swedish edition with Swedish subtitles) in a regular video store many years ago. :)

Couple of other interesting facts about swedish goverment besides banning of this film in Sweden:
- they were the ones who instantly wanted to cover the sunken ship with concrete.
"to keep the grave in peace" they said, and not let any journalists + whoever disturb the dead and also their mourning relatives. Those mourning relatives at the same time formed their association and hired lawyers to prevent this and to keep invstigating to find out the truth - and they still are.
- Swedish goverment has classified all of the evidence and materials considering the shipwreck and the evidence they have. For instance the footage of captain Avo Piht climbing into helicopter and taking off after his rescue. That footage was also in the news afterwards but mysteriously disappeared.

There's been a bunch of tomatoheads exploring this conundrum, dreaming up theories to gain money (lawyer's fees, rights to produce books with stitched-together stories etc) and living off the grief and the assertion that a modern ship just CAN'T sink in a storm, not even if the ship's in bad shape (and it's a recognized fact that the Estonia was ill fitted for hard weather and probably had damage to her car entrances, the locking mechanism and so on). It's very probable that some of the ventilation holes were open and non-sluiced, though they should not be; that would have brought in a steady and non-detected seeping of water hours before the disaster and helped turn the ship over rapidly in the critical half hour.

We don't really know what happened on the bridge, simply because just about nobody in the command survived. The fact that Rabe is a German doesn't change a thing, the reel is bogus. Period.

tomatoheads?!? please watch your language!

I have never believe this sinking was just accident. There is too much everything weird things like rescued captain Avo Piht missing (and some other Estonian crew members), disturbed radio traffic that night, JAIC members lying and one of them threw important evidence (part of the Atlantic lock) to the sea after divers had found it etc.

First Jaic chairman Andi Meister later wrote a book where he said he is sure Avo Piht is alive. If someone who had been investigating sinking doesnt even believe that investigation why should anyone else.
