The woman with cerebral palsy

The woman who is suffering from cerebral palsy looks really sick. Is she just acting sick or what? If its only an act then that's one hell of an acting achievement.

Good question! She did make one other movie a year later (Casa de los babys) which I haven't seen yet, and I don't know if that's a normal role or not. But I agree with you, if it's all acting, then it's a phenomenal acting achievement, and it's a pity such performances get overshadowed by the recognisable actors' endeavours. If she's that good, I'd love to see her make many more movies.

(If she really suffers from cerebral palsy and wasn't in full control of herself in front of the cameras, well, I guess there may be cries of exploitation, but I'll reserve my judgement on that for other forums.)

I was wondering the same thing. I assume she's just acting because clearly it would be exploitation otherwise. But what a performance! She seemed to have the facial and finger tics down pat, and I found it difficult to watch her at times.

Supporting actors don't always get the credit they deserve, but this is one that left a huge mark on me.

If she was acting the part, she did one hell of a job. She deserved the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and she never uttered a word the whole movie!

She was acting!

She certainly had me fooled, I can tell you.
