Really Good Movie, But Could Have Been Even Better If...

1.) The ending would have been different. I didn't like how they had the girl and the baby die. Everyone else should have been exposed for all their wrongdoings and Father Amaro should have left the church to start a family.

2.) I wouldn't mind seeing an extended Director's Cut. I usually don't like long movies, but this is one that could have used it. They had so much sneaky stuff going on with all these priests that they could have drawn it all out and made for a longer finale.

3.) When the bishop was getting into his tub of water, I was just hoping there would be another guy sitting in the tub there with him! That would have made for great shock value and even more scandal upon the church.

I didn't like the ending either. Actually, there are lot of things about the movie i didn't like. but I ... appreciated... the ending because it showed how the church can get away with its crimes (Father Amaro completely absolved of any wrongdoing) and the only casualty is religion at its purest (represented by Amelia). I get it. I think i got it.

The movie had a hint of film noir to it, I think. The way Father Amaro wasn't really a hero, but a villain (villain because he was the strong arm of the church, because he "fornicated" with an underage girl, encouraged her to get an abortion that led to her death, and was never held accountable).

Amaro was young but by the end of the movie, he was fully integrated with church politics
