Maggie Smith + Ian McKellen...Icy!

I just watched this again for the first time in 4 years and I remembered a distinct snappish-ness by Dame Maggie. Watching it again, I can see a definate chill between the pair.
A little investigating showed that eight days before the ceremony, Sir Ian hosted Saturday Night Live. In one skit he played...Dame Maggie Smith...and kissed Jimmy Fallon. The latter replied "Wow. Am I a King? Or a Queen?"
Perhaps Maggie was not amused. I've often heard that she HATES it when people "do" her. However, it is common knowledge that Maggie herself is one of the drollest mimics in the business!
At any rate it was great seeing her on a Oscarcast for the first time in 23 years. All 'glammed' up, it makes one wonder why she always plays the old crones.

I doubt very much that Dame Maggie was cross with McKellen. They are very good friends and I'm sure Maggie can take a joke, especially McKellen's.
