There's a bit of info over on the Heartbeat board of IMDB.

I'd advise anyone who's interested to check it out since The Royal could be in danger. I'm suprised this hasn't been discussed already.

I fumed at this news there aren't many programes I drop everything for but this is one of them. Maybe now they'll get their act together and release proper dvds they release loads of rubbish, so why can't we have this.

It'd be a shame to lose it, ITV has already behaved appallingly towards the show and viewers by stopping it mid series and restarting at a moments notice. According to Wikipedia the decision will be taken this year.
