Jensen Interceptor

Could someone enlighten me regarding the period of this program? I've only caught a few programs irregularly but thought it was supposed to be in the 60's. The credits show a number of vehicles which indicate this (eg little 50's Nash Metropolitan driving by) and one of the doctors drives an early 60's MGB but the tail end of the one I saw today has the hospital administrator getting into a MkIII Jensen Interceptor which puts it in the 70's. Did time move on as the series unfolded?

I'm surprised no one has responded to this message, but to help you out a little here - I'd alert you to the fact that The Royal is a spin-off from the series Heartbeat. Heartbeat initially was set in 1964 and progressed roughly to a believable timeline until about season 7 & 8 where it settled in 1969 (notice all the tax disks on the cars say Dec 69. But even if you look in the early seasons the time line isn't even then very accurately done...anyway so basically the timeline can pretty much be thrown out of the window after season 7 & 8 and it's setting is just a general 1960s - with some particular references at times (for example the moon landing).

So...back to The Royal, as I recall it, all the tax disks on the cars read Dec 69 on The Royal also. So basically, to answer your question, no time did not really "move on" as such in The Royal, in regards to linear years, but, basically, like Heartbeat it had a general 1960s setting, and yes there will be things from the 1950s, 1960s and even at times early 1970s, but neither program actually celebrated new years day 1970! LOL :-)
