They are taking the piss, how can they just end an episode like that and say thats all folks??

I would rather watch The Royal or Heartbeat any Sunday night, than the crap they are serving up like Marriage Ref, Odd One In, X Factor, Britains Got Talent (no it hasn't) and that crap which is on ITV now with "look at me everyone" Kaplinsky.

Not eveyrone wants singing competitions, what about drama, the TV is turned over to anything on Sky, once these shows are on, even the kids hate them (12 and 8 - The X-Box generation)

Most people want to watch gentle drama and comedy early evening on a Sunday, then Law & Order type shows after 9.00pm, not the same copy cat dross they keep churning out. Wake up, nobody watches it, you will only end up dropping it a few months later, once the ratings are known.

I don't know who is deciding which shows to drop and what to keep, but they need to get their head out of their arses and start listening to what the people want, not what they think we want to see (Cheap to make shows, which fill hours of TV time and throw in a phone-in compo for cash generation)

They even cocked up the breakfast show, they can't seem to do anything right, which is why most of our viewing is on Sky channels or Dave/Gold, where we can see the type of shows we want to watch, which used to be the staple of weekend TV, before an early night for work/school.

There was a little clue over the end credits with Pink Floyd's 'The Great Gig in the Sky' playing. Dr O has cheated death by elaborate accident before but I don't think he made it this time.

BTW what were ITV thinking of putting that trailer over the very last moments of the very last episode ever? Typical.

I know I'm late to this thread, but, I was speechless by the way ITV ended with Omerod in this and Blaketon in Heartbeat. For crying out loud, at least, give us one final episode each to see if they survived. ITV must be mad - and now Wild at Heart is ending too.

I've never actually seen 'The Royal Today' (2008), but the main character is Jonathan Ormerod, who is now working as a GP in the modern-day Royal. Apparently, he refers to his father and Jill in one episode as still being alive, so we can assume he survived.
