Crap impressions that start 'Hello, I'm....'

Why do so many of the impressions on Dead Ringers start with either, "Hello I'm..." or "I,(insert name)..etc" ?

I guess 'cos some of the impressions are so dire, you'd never guess by the voice or rubbish make-up alone. Culshaw did it AGAIN last night on Comic Relief, staring into camera in a bad brown wig, and saying "I Ricky Gervais, think Comic Relief.." etc.

This is such a cheat. Am amazed people let them get away with it.

(and why does Culshaw still impersonate Russell Crowe wearing the wig from Master and Commander? It was 4 years ago now. So much for Dead Ringers being topical...)

I'm probably going to get jumped on here, but I think that a lot of Culshaw's voices sound the same. Ricky Gervais, Tony Blair, Simon Cowell, Dale Winton - all slightly mincy and quite hard to tell apart.

Spot on. And don't worry at being jumped on - there's a lack of anyone on this board - even die-hard Dead Ringers fans , if such a thing exists any more.

Of course he has limitations, but no impersonator can get every voice exactly right. Culshaw's Tom Baker Doctor Who is terrific

Maybe. But he has had 30 years to perfect it. Don't recall Culshaw impersonating the last 3 Doctors with any success. So much for topical humour
